As you enter The Hall Of Solidarity you find yourself upon a landing at the top of three stairs. Facing the doorway is the open end of a U shaped gathering of tables made of rough hewn slabs of tem wood. The table of the Jarl is farthest from the door and just to the left of the apex of the U as you look from the door.
As the warmth of the hearth and the smell of roasting meats welcome you, you notice that from the walls hang swords, spears, axes, and shields that belonged to ancestors and warriors alike. There are also animal skins, antlers and trophy heads hung as testament of the Torvaldslander’s hunting skills. Each item tells its own tale of action and bravery.
Behind the large table are three smaller tables with kaissa boards upon them, tharlarion oil lamps hanging above for light. This is where the Men commonly hunker down in the winter months when the weather is too cold for raiding and plundering.
On the inside of the U the stone floor is cut out to make room for a sandpit where bondmaids dance and Masters challenge each other to feats of strength and warrior prowess. Around the sands are a few furs where a bondmaid may display at a Jarl’s wishes. In the corner, to the right of the entrance is the serving area.
In the serving area there are serving vessels and cleaning supplies. Fresh water is gathered from the well each morning. Outside of the serving area is a large hearth where kettles of paga and mead are hung. There is usually meat roasting upon the spit, veggies roasting and fresh sa-tarna and black bread is kept warm here. There is a small backdoor from the serving area that leads to a cold shed where large blocks of ice keep food and drink chilled or frozen for storage in the long winter months.
The food, drink, and services provided come free of cost. To offer payment is to insult the hospitable nature of Jarl LongKnife, Jarl of Jarls. The Hall maintains blackwine, mead, and paga in the winter months. In the summer months, you may find ka-la-na or ta-wine and various fruit juices depending on what was acquired during the raids. Chilled mead, the Jarl’s favourite is always in good supply year round.
The Hall is a home. Hear the friendly banter and watch the lovely bondmaids fulfilling the needs of the Jarls gathered within. You may find the girls serving food and drink, dancing, or simply flirting shamelessly. Watch them bathe or have them bathe You in the huge round cedar tub slung with wide copper bands. The Hall is also a place of discussion and friendly debate where even the bondmaids may respectfully interject a thought or two.
A WORD OF WARNING: To bully is not Mastery. Those who abuse bondmaids for no reason and those not willing to respect Gorean culture are sent quickly on their way.
The Solidarity Hall is a no capture/kill zone!
